Hey i need to download a proper antivirus or sumthing .. sum1 used my pc n i got sum kinda virus, which i cant get rid of! my norton has expired :(

Keeps giving me system alerts.. i dunno what to do !! :( plz plz plz tell me if i can download anything to detect it for free i can delete them manually !!

I personally use AVG on 8 of my computers and Avast on 2 others. I like both and they both do a great job. ''Babe19'' is correct. You must remove Norton. If not it will conflict with the new antivirus program.

Hmm... free antivirus software... you could try using avast! antivirus, or AVG.
you dont want you use norton anymore ur need to delete it then you can download avg antivirus that is free to use
I'm not sure if you can find a free anti-virus, you might find a trial ... but try to download an anti spy ware, it might be a spy ware problem not virus ... try getting Ad-ware removal personal from http://www.lavasoft.com , good luck

I have an antivirus software...?

I have an antivirus software that i didnt install. I dont even know where it came from. Nobody else uses this computer. I was just using my computer one day and then a program i didnt install started checking my computer. Just a few minutes ago, I let the scan run. It said I had Trojan! I knew it couldnt be true so i checked my computer with AVG(the one i had installed already). It found nothing that could even be related to Trojan. So my question is, is this program a virus? It is free and says that the stuff cant be removed by the free version. Is it trying to get me to buy it? Please help!

These things happen when you use an administrative account for browsing . In an administrative account, any software that enters in your computer can install itself, and then cause further trouble. If you use a limited user account, then the damage is contained to that account only, and can be easily detected and removed by logging into administrative account.

-you need to disable system restore

-boot in safe mode

-run the av/aspy scan

okay, my avg free edition wont update and i know its no big deal but i keep geting the security center popup saying your antivirus is out of date and its annoying, so i update it rite? wrong, it says update unsucessful every single time no mater what i do it always says unsucessful, so what do i do to resolve this problem?

close any firewalls or Norton stuff you have running. I would restart in Safe Mode and do a full scan, you may have been hacked. You can get the update file from majorgeeks.com in the meantime

Do a reinstall of the program and choose the repair option, then you will have to update after installing.
I have AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 and it's set to update automatically. After a few months it stopped doing this and I didn't change the settings. I'm updating manually right now and am going to e-mail their technical support. I wish I could help you out because this is frustrating. Hope someone else has the answer for you.

Norton Antivirus Problem?

i have norton antivirs 2003. i just installed it, i skipped tre registration becuase it says that i get 90 days free. and i did. so i updated it untill it said it has no mroe updates to download, i updated my computer as well. and yet i get this bubble that says ''Norton Antivirus is Installed but the status is unknown'' its a litle red shield with a white ''x'' in the center. when i open norton it says the status is ''ok''.

I understand that you want an anti-virus program to protect your computer...

that is WHY you don't want Norton.

It's a huge ram hog, it doesn't always work right, and it conflicts with other programs, and boggs down your pc operations.

The solution is to DUMP Norton...

AND instead get this great program:

That's just because WinXP Security Center doesn't like Norton. (Neither do I, btw), but there's nothing wrong. Don't worry.

I would advise you to try sometime Avast antivirus. It's excellent, works seamlessly with XP, and it's free. I've had it for years now with absolutely no problem whatsoever.

AVG antivirus program help?

I have AVG antivirus.

It was working fine for a few months, then upon one update (this evening) told me it needed to restart. I restarted my computer by clicking the ''Yes'' button.

When my PC had restarted, I got the following message:

''Unfinished update of AVG Free Edition has been detected. To finish the Update process, it is necessary to restart the computer now.

Do you want to restart the computer now?''

At which point I am given the choice ''Yes'' or ''No''. When I click ''No'' I have to protection and my computer freaks out. When I click ''Yes'' my computer restarts, but I get exactly the same message AGAIN. It is a vicious loop someone save me.

I have Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition, which is working pretty well, and i also have AVG free edition. I use AVG most of the time, but i got a few Trojan viruses, and the problem is that Symantec never even picked it up, and AVG was unable to remove them.
