In the past 2 days I have lost 14 gigs of free hd space. I have done nothing to my computer execpt install an external hard drive and make a few backups to it. I have also partitioned that drive.
I want to know why 14 gigs disappeared (not all at once either-bit by bit) and how I can get it back. Disk cleanup does nothing (not that I'm surprised) and NOD32 antivirus turns up empty handed.

I would say hacker storing stuff on your PC. Either that or someone is DL'ing stuff. Do others use the PC? check for the DL'ing clients. I found 20 gigs of DL'ed porn on my Buddy's PC, she has 3 boys-LOL She was mortified. I found it searching for .jpg. .avi, and .mpeg files try that also look for .mp3 and .mp4. Disconnect from the internet for a day, does it stop? If so, someone is putting something in there somewhere. Go into your computer and write down the file sizes of stuff in there-compare them a day later. I found a program that was storing log files, instead of dumping them that way, almost 10 gigs worth. Do a search for anything you don't know, or recognize you find in your program files and add remove programs. Anything more advance and have a tech savvy buddy take a look.
